A Study in Scarlet
The novel A Study in Scarlet introduced the most famous literary creation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 – 1930), the detective Sherlock Holmes. After many rejections, it was published in 1887 in Beeton’s Christmas Annual, later it was published again as a book in 1888. This story will mark the first appearance of many of the characteristics and quirks of the amazing crime-solving duo of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. A Study in Scarlet explores a murder mystery from the perspective of conscious and keen observation, through the watchful eyes of Sherlock Holmes.
